We can help grandparents with the following:
- Assessing, by considering the current law and case law, if the grandparents have a case to make a Children Act application.
- Applying for permission to the Court to make a Children Act Order.
- Before any application can be made to Court the prospective Applicant must attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAMS) with a Mediator. This is a meeting with an independent Mediator to discuss whether the issues can be resolved in any other way other than going to Court. Some cases will be exempt from MIAMS but this is something that can be discussed with your Solicitor.
- Discussing the type of Children Act order the grandparent wants to apply for and completing the Children Act Application.
- Children Orders are now called Child Arrangements Orders and these are: Child Arrangements Order, Specific Issues Order and/or Prohibited Steps Order.
- Representation at Court.
